Sherre Thomas
Criminal Defense Attorney
Sherre is a seasoned criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor with decades of courtroom experience, known for her hands-on approach, deep legal knowledge, and unwavering commitment to helping clients navigate complex criminal cases.
Sherre’s path to the legal profession began long before law school, working behind the scenes in law firms, courtrooms, and the criminal justice system throughout Dallas County. After assisting a criminal defense attorney and later serving as a court coordinator for a criminal court judge, she developed a firsthand understanding of how deeply legal representation can impact a person’s life. While continuing to work full time, Sherre attended night law school year round, determined to build a career rooted in advocacy, professionalism, and client care.
After earning her law degree, Sherre joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, where she spent 18 years handling criminal matters ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony cases. She also worked in organized crime before dedicating much of her career to crimes against children cases, eventually rising to become Chief of the division. Her extensive prosecutorial background gave her a comprehensive understanding of complex criminal litigation, particularly in highly sensitive child abuse cases that many attorneys are hesitant to handle.
Today, Sherre brings that experience to criminal defense, using her insight into the prosecution process to protect her clients’ rights and guide them through difficult legal situations. She takes a highly personal and collaborative approach to representation, prioritizing communication, preparation, and transparency at every stage of the case. Sherre believes clients should fully understand their options and feel confident in the decisions they make, whether pursuing diversion programs, negotiated resolutions, or trials.
Outside of her practice, Sherre enjoys creating mosaic art, exploring painting and abstract artwork, volunteering with animal shelters, and spending time with her dogs and family. A lifelong animal lover, she has cared for many different birds throughout her life and values creativity, connection, and lifelong learning outside the courtroom.
