Before entering private practice, Kjestina served as a public defender, where she represented clients facing a wide range of criminal charges, including DWI and domestic-related offenses. Her experience reinforced the importance of individualized representation and strengthened her commitment to advocating for people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Transitioning to private practice allowed her to spend more time with clients, build stronger relationships, and provide the personalized representation she believes every person deserves.
Kjestina approaches every case with the understanding that no two clients are alike. She believes meaningful advocacy begins by listening, not only to the facts of a case but also to the experiences and circumstances that have shaped each individual’s life. By taking the time to earn her clients’ trust and understand their goals, she develops strategies that reflect both their legal needs and their personal priorities.
While she understands the seriousness of criminal charges, Kjestina also believes that a little humor and genuine human connection can make an overwhelming process feel less intimidating. She strives to create an environment where clients feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and knowing they have an advocate who will stand beside them every step of the way.
Outside of her practice, Kjestina enjoys spending time with her two dogs, including her retired therapy dog, Scooby Doo, and her corgi, Kiwi. She also enjoys gardening, landscaping, reading, crafting, exploring local breweries, and taking on DIY home improvement projects. Whether building furniture, tending her garden, or tackling a new creative project, she appreciates opportunities to learn new skills and create something meaningful beyond the courtroom.
