Criminal defense near Brooklyn Center

Brooklyn Center is in Hennepin County, Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District.

  • Non-felony criminal and traffic cases from Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Corcoran, Crystal, Golden Valley, Greenfield, Maple Grove, New Hope, Osseo, Robbinsdale and Rogers, and parts of Dayton, Hanover, Rockford and St. Anthony, are heard at the Brookdale Regional Service Center (Hennepin County Suburban Court, Division 2), 6125 Shingle Creek Pkwy, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430. Our office is nearby on Summit Drive North.
  • Felony cases are heard downtown at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 S 6th St, Minneapolis (the suburban courts handle only non-felony cases).

What happens first: if you are arrested and held, you must be brought before a judge without unnecessary delay and within 36 hours, not counting the day of arrest, Sundays and legal holidays (Minn. R. Crim. P. 4.02, subd. 5(1)). After a DWI, the petition to challenge the license revocation must be filed within 60 days of receiving the Notice and Order of Revocation (Minn. Stat. 169A.53, subd. 2).

Charges we defend: DWI, domestic assault, assault, orders for protection and harassment orders, drug charges, theft, felonies and misdemeanors. See also our Brooklyn Center criminal defense page.

Family law near Brooklyn Center

Hennepin County Family Court is now at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 S 6th St (front counter A-21), Minneapolis, MN 55487, phone (612) 348-6000. In-person family hearings are held there; remote hearings continue as scheduled. Family cases are not heard at Brookdale.

A divorce can be filed in Minnesota once one spouse has lived here for 180 days (Minn. Stat. 518.07), generally in the county where either spouse lives (Minn. Stat. 518.09). We help with divorce, child custody and parenting time, custody modifications, property division and spousal maintenance. See also our Brooklyn Center family law page.

  • Family: any papers you were served, existing orders, a rough list of income, assets and debts, and your children’s current schedule.
  • A list of questions, and the names of anyone you have talked to about the case.
